!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , it's TRUCK WEEK here at DDoD headquarters.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Kinja'd!!!

But, NOT SO FAST! I have 3 self-imposed rules:

No Amaroks

No Constellations

No Concept Vehicles

Why? Because that would make it too easy. Everybody wants an Amarok, and everybody's seen a Constellation in racing spec. Nothing wrong with either thing, but you can't google "VW truck" without having 500 TB of those images come flooding out of your monitor. We can do better.

So, we'll kick the week off with the VW Worker, pictured above in 15.210 4x4 Military guise. That particular model was developed in cooperation with the Brazilian Army and is used for general transport, including AA weaponry. The UN also uses them:

Kinja'd!!!

In commercial spec, the Worker is the Constellation's smaller brother, and like the big guy has a huge range of diesel engines. One example, the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , carries an 8.3L Cummins I6 turbodiesel and a ZF 16-speed gearbox. There's a mind-boggling array of trailer configurations for this model:

Kinja'd!!!

The Worker sees commercial duty in South America and is part of the VW Trucks and Busses lineup. And in case you were wondering what the numerical designations in the names are for, the first number is the GVW and the second is the horsepower rating. I believe this is carried out across all Truck & Bus vehicles since they use the same system in all of them.

And, like the Constellation, The Worker will pop up in Brazil's Fórmula Truck series as well:

VW Hilux Taro. Yes they did leave the factory with the VW badge.

I don't live by your rules. I live by Constellations with awesome minimalist liveries.

Yeah I'm not going to be covering that one either. It's an interesting footnote in VW's history, however. VW wanted to test the light truck market, so they assembled Hiluxes themselves to see what interest there would be. Without that ill-fated badge-swap, we wouldn't have the Amarok, and by we I mean everywhere but North America.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I have some for the Friday potpourri, but it's not getting an individual post.

Well, there's always the VW Sprinter Crafter and the VW Caddy to talk about.

Caddy is Thursday's. The Crafter I didn't look at because it's more of a van.

A friend of mine uses one exactly like this as his company truck:

Even after several offers, he won't sell it for a thing. It mostly original, beside the EFI from the latest air-cooled Kombis, better brakes and more comfortable seats (he makes 5h+ trips with it).

Well as pictured in the original reply it is. Don't worry though, I picked (what I think is) a better one for tomorrow.

I just didn't want to do all of the current Truck & Bus commercial lineup as that seemed a bit boring, and I did the Worker today so it kind of ruled out any other ones that are on sale right now. The Crafter has more widespread availability, too, which is why I went with the Worker. Trying to do things people might not have seen.

More of a joint venture than a 100% VW product, but I still like it.

I almost chose the Hormiga (EA489 Basistransporter) because FWD 1.5L boxer 4 commercial truck that's the size of a VW Polo.
